Template:Citation Style documentation/language

Revision as of 00:28, 2 December 2019 by imported>WhatamIdoing (For clarity, subsequent to an WP:ANI discussion, because we used to promote the opposite practice)
  • language: The language in which the source is written. Displays in parentheses with "in" before the language name or names. Use the full language name or the proper language code (list of supported codes / names). When the source uses more than one language, list them individually, separated by commas, e.g. Template:Para or Template:Para. The use of language names or language codes recognized by Wikimedia adds the page to the appropriate subcategory of Category:CS1 foreign language sources. Do not use templates or wikilinks. When the language is "English" (or "en"), no language is displayed in the citation. Adding this parameter for English-language sources is neither encouraged nor discouraged. However, if someone has already added it, then removing it would be a cosmetic edit, which is discouraged. When two or more languages are listed, do not include "and" before the last language ("and" is inserted automatically by the template). Aliases: lang
