The livelihood of two billion people depend on forests. Sustainable land use is facing a plethora of challenges including a changing climate, illegal land invasions and increasing forest fires. Machine learning provides local communities as well as governments with tools to tackle these challenges:

  • Detecting and predicting deforestation
  • Engaging communities in citizen science
  • Optimising reforestation projects
